Ephemeral Visions

Transcending ephemerality through the lens and imagery.
Environment

Window on the Lake

Boat ride in Cuemanco

Another view from the boat ride the other day.

Abandoned

Growth at the reserve.

Seen at the ecological reserve of Xochimilco, Mexico City. Economic bad times apparent at the park; the parks administration fired maintenance staff allowing for huge amounts of growth at portions of the park.

Urban Oasis

Lake of Xochimilco - Cuemanco

An oasis I get to more frequently than any other portion of Mexico City since I made it my new home.

Don Carlos

Door on Motolinia

Guess some of you have noticed I've stayed away from people photos recently. Hope to post some soon though. Three most recent images were made downtown, Mexico City on separate visits. I can't get enough of the Centro Historico and decided to share what I enjoy most of the buildings in the area.

Old Wagon on Palma

Station wagon

Seen on Palma between Francisco I. Madero and 5 de Mayo, Centro Historico - Mexico City.

Infinitum

Telephone wire box - Telmex.

Seen on Motolinía, Centro Historico - Mexico, D.F.

1062-BIS, Antes de 1018

Green on red at the Metro Station.

Seen beside the exit of Metro Nativitas (towards Centro Historico), Mexico City.

Alone

Alone in New York

Upstate, New York.

Collection, not just garbage…

Colleccion de basura.

The skull is used as a container by the garbage guys. They take your garbage; you drop some pesitos in honor of them doing so.

Carnal

Urban Art

Urban art in Coyoacán, Mexico city.

Red

Chevy Rojo en Iztapalapa, Ciudad de Mexico.

The old red Chevy I love parked on a cool-looking, grimy corner of Itzapalapa, Mexico City. Can't help but enjoy how the car and place seem to have been made for each other.

Dark & Light

Metro at Zocalo, Mexico city.

One of the Metro's Entrance/Exits at the Zocalo, Mexico City.

Rained In

Desde La Ventana de Mi Coche En Un Dia Llovioso

Not a chance to shoot as wished this weekend. It has been pouring for an anusually extended period here in Mexico Cit; I don't recall anything like this in the years I've lived in the city.

Play – Coyoacán – México City

Children play soccer (football) on the grounds of the Church in Coyoacan.

For me, places are defined by the people that inhabit them, not the other way around.

Cristo

El Cristo Urbano

From an exhibit back in 2008 at the Atrio de San Francisco -downtown, Mexico City.

Car & Walker

Coche y persona andando.

Seen in Iztapalapa, Mexico City, this Saturday.

A Ripple in Time

Sky and clouds at the Catedral Mexico city

Seen at the Zocalo, Mexico City in front of the Catedral.

Shine Through

Brilla via las flores.

From a walk at Mexico City's ecological park of Quemaco.

Urban forms and shapes

formas urbanas de la ciudad de mexico

A perspective from an open-air art exhibit in downtown, Mexico City. Structures between the foreground and the building way in the back are what remains of some damages from Mexico City's 1985 quake which killed thousands.

Night Ride Home

Para la casa desde el trabajo.

The usual view on the drive home from work at night.

Agapita

Graffiti a la Mexicano.

Graffiti a lo Mexicano.

Torre – A different perspective

Torre Latino Americano

Been bogged down with loads of work so been picking and pulling from my HD. Just got the chance to shoot this weekend so I'll be posting something from that this week --hopefully. Feeling a bit down for having become a sort of weekend photographer in the past year, but priorities are what they are.

Spiral

Spiral

Staircases that span about 500 years into Mexico City's past at the Catedral, Zocalo.

Novias Jireh

Old mom and pop shop in downtown mexico city.

Some may wonder what is it that makes me focus so much on the "seemingly" old, tattered, and tawdry of Mexico City. The assumption, if ever made, is only that: an unfounded misconception. For me these places are encyclopedic, exhaustive manifestations of entropy's work on all that is --in our sphere of existence at least. In other words, all good things --inexorably-- come to and end.
