Don’t know about deep, but I would say it’s experimental and even unintentional: I had left the light meter to spot and shot from the hip. Viewed it later on the PC and was intrigued by the results. I usually use matrix meter and try to meter for the sky, locking it, and then shoot. Too much to think about when doing street though –at least for me.
The sky did it for me and I kind have this thing for leaving faces dark when possible. I’ve found spot metering can help in this regard in such light situations.
Muy bueno ese cielo.
El contraluz de la persona no me acaba de convencer, ya que se ve mucho detalle de la camisa que lleva, creo que otra opción hubiera sido oscurecer esas camisa para que fuera la imagen más compensada.
shooting ‘contre-jour’ is supposed to be one of those big no-no’s in photography, but I’ve always found that it gives really interesting results- as proven here, the blacks and highlights might be clipped but who cares, it makes a pretty arresting image
Yes, Rhys, you are totally right on the technical aspects. Would be rejected by the teacher and the pros, but I’m not here to please either one. Don’t get me wrong, I believe one must start with the rules and learn to break them when and where appropriate.
Woaaa that’s deep !!
