From an exhibit set up by the government of the city of Mexico depicting animals believed to be already or under the threat of extinction. This may frighten you, but consider how these creatures may be just as terrified of humanity.
“Well I just want you to know I can see through your mask” (Bob Dylan)
Spooky sunday or you better take a second look. What a brilliant play of details & contrasts, Luis. And these eyes keep talking to me all day long. Great photograph with the blurry background, the grain & you getting as close as possible!
Hello Fritsch. Thanks for the visit. Yes, I did get close here, just liked all the details and wanted to capture as much as I could. The eyes were so expressive on this thing…if people could understand what’s behind this mask.
Funny as you are the second to comment this. Truth is it was not my intention to scare anyone, but the subject matter is scary and gloomy. As I mentioned, this is from an exhibit that was on a major avenue here in Mexico City depicting a various animals believed to be already or on the verge of extinction. I wonder about the terror man inspires on nature, the earth and all its creatures.
Yes, stark and spooky, but the reality of extinction is perhaps just or more so. To think our children or grandchildren may not witness many of the creatures you and I have taken for granted expecting them to be there tomorrow.
Hmm, very interesting image… But it does not look horror. For me I see the sadness and surprize in its eyes as if it cannot believe that it cannot move and scare. Very nice!
Your photography is very attractive for me. I’m into street photography and soon my new home will to be Mexico City. I’ll stay tuned on your site. Write me for talking about street photography. I would receive tips on street made in Mexico City.
a very intriguing and striking ‘portrait’ shot of this statue — as always your unique and captivating style of beautifully composed, well contrasted b/w images have a wonderfully dynamic impact on the viewer. faaabulous detail!
